Dry matter intake, dry matter digestibility and growth performance in goats fed grass-based diet (Brachiaria or Cenchrus) compared with a concentrate-based diet

چکیده
Dry matter digestibility (DMD), dry intake (DMI) and growth performance of concentrate- forage-based diets were investigated using 24 growing Blended goats (12 males, 12 females) weighing 16.5±1.2 kg (mean±sd). Goats blocked by sex assigned randomly to three dietary treatments that fed for 10 weeks, after two weeks adaptation. Dietary MRG (40% maize bran, 40% rice 20% Gliricidia leaf meal), BG (80% Brachiaria brizantha cv. Piatã, meal) CG Cenchrus ciliaris, meal). All contained sufficient nutrients meet the requirements goats. The diet had lower DMI than CG, likely because small particle size adapted slowly diet. Average daily weight gain was 10.7, 9.9 22.8 g/day MRG, BG, respectively, did not differ among diets. overall live change while intermediate. These findings indicate B. Piatã C. ciliaris are equally useful as supplementary feedstuffs during season. Key words: polish, sepium.

Dry Matter Intake and Digestibility in Weast African Dwarf Goats Fed Raw or Processed Pigeon Pea (Cajanus Cajan) Seed
Four West African Dwarf (WAD) grower bucks averaging 6 kg in weight and aged between 5-6 months of age were used in a digestive trial to determine the intake and digestibility of raw or processed pigeon pea seed meal based diets. The diets designated RPBD, SPBD, TPBD and BPBD were formulated from cassava peel, palm kernel cake, brewers dry grain, bone meal and common salt to contain 15% of raw,...

متن کامل1 Dry Matter Intake
Dry matter intake (DMI) is fundamentally important in nutrition because it establishes the amount of nutrients available to an animal for health and production. Actual or accurately estimated DMI is important for the formulation of diets to prevent underfeeding or overfeeding of nutrients and to promote efficient nutrient use. Underfeeding of nutrients restricts production and can affect the he...

Four ruminally cannulated wethers (31+/-1.3kg) were used in an experiment with a 4x4 Latin square design to estimate the DM intake, apparent digestibility, nitrogen balance, rumen ammonia and microbial protein production. The sheep had ad libitum access to either Cassia rotundifolia (Cassia), Lablab purpureus (Lablab), Macroptilium atropurpureum (Siratro) or Stylosanthes guianensis (Stylo). Dry...
متن کاملInfluence of dry matter intake, dry matter digestibility, and feeding behavior on body weight gain of beef steers.
This study was conducted to determine the relative contribution of feeding behavior, DMI, apparent DM digestibility (DMD), and passage rate on variation in BW gain. One hundred forty-three crossbred steers were used in this study to determine the factors that contribute to variation in BW gain. Steers were 304 ± 1 d of age and had an initial BW of 338 ± 3 kg. Steers had ad libitum access to fee...
